PENTIMENTO

An app that helps learning photographic compositions from famous oil paintings.

We now live in a world where more people have mobile phone and access to cameras to take photos. However, not everyone is a good photographer or get trained to be one. So, how can we learn to take better photos by using compositions properly? Composition is a broad but important term in the art world, and it involves arranging visual elements with guidance of principles. Furthermore, most famous oil paintings have good compositions to learn from and then applied to photography. Pentimento helps you learn not only the information about the oil paintings but takes better photos by using good compositions from them.

CRAFTING THE EXPERIENCE

Once I had a better picture of potential users, I focus on designing the fastest way to let users pick the right oil paintings.

It’s vital to think over the variety of steps and clear navigation that will enable users to quickly pick a painting they like. Both of the categories of paintings and composition rules are important. They should appear on the landing page, which allow users to navigate as soon as they open the app. Using this as my main goal, I iterated on sketches and then wireframes to showcase the ideal user workflow.
BRANDING ASSETS

After figuring out the user flow, I then developed the typography, color palette and icons.
